Die trying by Nicholas Ryan Book Review

Best selling author of Ground Zero

Blurb
Trapped amidst the horror of the zombie apocalypse, three men hear the sound of a helicopter overhead and know it represents their last desperate hope to survive the terror and reach safety.
But survival comes at a cost - and the undead hordes that ravage the world are
not the only lurking evil the men must face.
But for Mitch Logan, his brother, Jed, and their friend, Clinton Harrigan, there is no choice.
They must fight to survive - or Die Trying.

Yay another great zombie read. This was the 2nd book I've read from Mr Ryan and it was another heart stopping read from page one. Nick creates fantastic believable characters introducing Harrison a big burly Christian man and 2 brothers Jed and Mitch who are on the run fighting for survival from humans infected with the jaws virus. With a clever addition in that the dead not only turn into flesh eating zombies, but can hunt their prey successfully too.

What makes this book more unique is that it centers around a helicopter crash and the rescue of its occupants. When Harrison and the brothers discover Clive Walker and his daughter Millie alive with a dead pilot, things are definitely not what they seem.
But as with any zombie apocalypse it's not just the zombies that you need to fear; with a brilliant parallel twist running through the plot with Jed; who after 10 yrs in one of the toughest prisons is seeking revenge on his brother Mitch, keeping us all gripped.
I grew to really like Mitch and Harrigan's character's but felt I wanted more from Millie.
This brilliant fast paced creative action-fest is delivered in dramatic detail and plenty of gore to keep every zombieholic happy. Offering clear vision to whats going on so you can almost smell that rotten flesh. This was so fast paced I found myself holding my breath a few times. The ending is just fantastic and didn't see it coming, loved it.
A Die Trying 2 would be fab, but its also a great stand alone read too.

Seasick by Ian Rob Wright Book Review

by Iain Rob Wright

Blurb
IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE RELAXING…
Police Officer Jack Wardsley’s life ended the moment his partner died, stabbed to death by a deranged druggie. Now, years later, Jack is a changed man, with a head full of secrets driving him insane. His recent record of police brutality and a reputation for not following the rules has prompted his seniors to give him an ultimatum: take a few weeks off, relax, and find some way to let go of all the anger – or else find another job.

That’s why Jack is about to board The Spirit of Kirkpatrick, a cruise liner built for relaxation and fun. Pretty soon, however, Jack realizes that a little R&R is the last thing he’s ever going to get aboard the cursed ship. There’s a virus onboard, making people insane and bleeding from the eyes. The whole ship is overrun with blood and death, and there is nowhere to escape.

Just when Jack thinks his number is up and his life is over, he wakes up. The day is exactly the same. In fact, everything is the same. Jack is forced to witness the viral outbreak again and again as it ravages the ship and its passengers over and over, day after day. Jack finds himself trapped in a repeating hell.

It won’t be long before Jack realizes there are others onboard just like him – and that some of them know more than they’re letting on.

This is the third book Ive read from Iain Rob Wright and his fast becoming one of my favorite authors.
Sergeant Jack Wardsley was sent on a cruise on the Kirkpatrick to relax and recuperate after not coping with the death of his partner & girlfriend; but the cruise isn't what it seems in so many ways.

When I first read the blurb I wasn't sure if a groundhog day storyline would work for me? I just couldn't see how it could be written to sound like a believable read and could seem too corny. But I needn't have worried as I was completely hooked from the first till the very last page.

Jack is your typical drinking revengeful bad tempered copper with a chequered history and family love loss which I've read a hundred times in other books...BUT...NOT...with the day resetting time at the same time everyday. He has to find whose responsible and why?
It's Walking dead, Stephen King cross Agatha Christie who did it; all rolled into one cruise ship with nowhere to go.

I thoroughly enjoyed this fast paced plot which I read in one sitting. Plus a unique twist on your zombie reads...believe me I've read a lot. Further into the book you get, the more the plot thickens and the more you get to know Jack.

Everyday Jack can start again and explore the ship, question the occupants and witness the zombie breakout and even die but then the day resets to begin it all again the very next day; where he is learning and gradually trying to discover whats going on and whose causing this.
Seasick is an incredibly involving read which is sooo creatively thought out.

Iain has done it again with yet another well written book with well developed likable characters and plenty of horror and gore for the zombie fans.
You are swept along "on a wave" (pun intended) on Jacks race against time to save the world and his own fight for survival as he discovers someone is trying to stop him anyway they can.
Does he just want to sit down and drink his sorrows away or will he fight? Enjoy a wonderful mix of horror, suspense, witchcraft, deceit, murder with a large dash of zombies.

If you love murder mystery, zombies and apocalypse style reads you need to just click buy now!

Savage by Iain Rob Wright Book Review

Blurb
SOMETIMES BEING ALONE IS BETTER…
The world has crumbled and the dead walk the earth, but all is not lost, yet. A group of survivors seek salvation at an abandoned pier where the dead can’t get them.

But the dead are not the only threat.

The people on the pier are not the only group of survivors. There are others out there: bigger, nastier groups. And one just turned up right on the doorstep…

The world may have changed, but people haven’t.

I have just read Ravage the preceding book to this one but you can still jump straight in and read this book without having to know what happened before. Although Im really happy to see Anna and Rene again I would have loved to have known how they got here and what happened to the rest of the group they were with.
According to other reviewers this book has the highest overlap of characters from other books which makes it quite exciting as you really get to know the characters.
I love the group on the pier, its a good mix of different people and Ive really taken to Poppy a typical headstrong young girl latching onto Garfield; a tough ginger headed guy whose not afraid to take charge and head off with the foraging parties. He also has a huge soft spot for Poppy after saving her life. Garfield is a likable, believable guy and your rooting for him throughout this read with brilliant character development from Iain again.

One of the foraging missions will cause trouble however as they return with a wounded; but wanted man that has escaped from a large powerful group out at sea. The psychotic power hungry boss of this group Samuel Raymeady decides that their refusal to just hand him over means war; resulting in catastrophic results to the closely knit group on the pier. A furious Anna and Rene take matters in their own hands and go to face him....never a good move!

Roman/Damian (from Final Winter) works for Samuel and is another force to be reckoned with but whose side is he on?

This book proves its not always the zombies you need to look out for and there is more about the sour end of human nature than about the zombies in this book with Sally and Samuel around.
A good author is never scared to kill off favorite characters and there are some shocking and sad moments throughout this read.
I have to say, we as the reader feel everything through the authors highly descriptive text and it feels that we are right there next to that character; good or bad. So with sadness comes some good with another fantastic ending and another highly recommended read!

Zombie Fallout 8: An Old Beginning by Mark Tufo Book Review

Blurb
Mike and his family escaped a vast zombie horde to find themselves imprisoned by a clandestine group that seeks global domination by the most nefarious means possible. Help is coming, in the form of a 500 year old Pop-Tart loving vampire named Tommy. Will he be enough to get the Talbots to freedom or will he succumb to monsters new and old? On top of all this Mike discovers that he is in the crosshairs of an ancient enemy and it is only a matter of time until the final showdown.

OK same as before zombieholics; if you've read any of the Zombie Fallout or Indian Hill series and loved it...STOP and go click Buy Now! You don't need me to tell you its an aaaamazing read!

Ohh my Goodness I thought the other 7 books were brilliant but I reeeeally loved this one; its brought the whole series together and has introduced some amazing new story-lines and possibly another war...eeep!

If you've read book 7 you will know Mikes been imprisoned with his family and Thomas is on the way to rescue him. Deneaux is back with a vengeance and is up to her usual deceitful evil tricks...she has to be the most hateful person EVER...when is someone gonna throw her to the zombies...no really when...argh?
Mark is one of the few authors who can introduce Knights of the Templar, more vampires and a zombie gorilla and make it absolutely believable; just run of the mill everyday thing.
I cannot stress how much I enjoy Mark's books, his writing is gripping, compelling, vivid and exciting. The dialogue is always fresh and the Talbotisms are so hilarious Im still laughing outloud.
We finally discover the depth that Tommy knows about Mike and the Talbot's and he drops a massive bombshell for the coming of Book 9...oh my I cant wait Im so excited... for....book 9.....!

Buy yours from Amazon UK and US

Anyone new to Mark's books I highly recommend you start at book 1 where its flow and pace will keep you glued. Your Tufo addiction will become pretty bad and you may need ZF rehab; but you will appreciate Book 8 so much more when you understand how they all got where they are now.

Zombie fallout 7 The Fallen By Mark Tufo Book Review

Zombie Fallout 7 The Fallen

You know your gona love this one without reading my review!

Blurb
Mike is back. The battle with Eliza is past. Now Mike must strike out once again in a desperate race against time as his son and best friend are succumbing to the zombie virus within them. What he does not know is that an old foe has
risen up and a more insidious threat has emerged to not just the Talbots but all of humanity.

I waited for ages and on tender hooks to read book 7, this has to be my all time favorite zombie series and it didn't disappoint. I must have read near on over 100 zombie apocalyptic books; yes you can say Im addicted with no cure; I just cant get enough of them. But some series/stories really stick in your head and this is most certainly one of them, all 7 of them!
Mark Tufo writes with a compelling and gripping style which is so realistic and believable you you just cannot put the book down...its glued...stuck to your hand and you just cannot look away!
His sense of humour will make you laugh outloud and Mark has brought Mike Talbot and his clan to life...even Henry the bulldog; after reading all 6 books I feel part of the family and at home.

So Ill shut up rambling now and tell you what you want to know; did I like book... 7...hell yeah!

Mike and his family think they can can relax a bit after the epic battle and Eliza's demise, but hey....its The Talbot family here...not a hope....
Now they are back on another road trip...there's always a road trip...as the rush is on to find Doc Baker, the only guy who maybe able to save BT and Justin from the virus....as it starts to take hold again...will they find him in time...?

I'm so pleased to see the return of the Trip and Stephanie back in the group. Mark has nailed this hysterical "weed lovin" hippy who lost his mind in the 70's; accompanied by his long suffering wife Stephanie who just adores him!

We get to see flashbacks to the history of Mr and Mrs Deneaux and the Demesne group pre-zombie and find out who did start the cold flu virus outbreak. Deneaux picks up a surprise hitchhiker and she continues with her web of lies and deceit, cruelty and spitefulness, did I miss anything out.

Plus of course plenty of horrific zombie mayhem persists throughout with many close shaves...well it is Mike Talbot; brilliantly written as always and yet another incredible compelling heart felt read; I can't wait for book eight and I don't want this series to ever end.
Another masterpiece from the master of zombie horror!

*I'm loving the new book covers; I think they have the characters down to a Tee, Mike and BT are just perfect.
Ive added both the book covers up the top which one do you prefer?
