Devoured The Hunger Book 1 by Jason Brant Book Review

Blurb
Day One: A series of terrorist attacks spread a cloud of noxious gas over highly populated areas.
Day Two: Higher brain function erodes in those exposed to the gas. Their bodies begin to distort, faces distending, skin sallowing, teeth elongating.
Day Three: The infected disappear into the shadows, fleeing the harsh daylight which has begun to sear their flesh.
Day Four: The world is DEVOURED.

Life isn’t kind to Lance York. A full-time job has eluded him for years, his wife loathes the sight of him, his bank accounts are empty, and his wealthy father-in-law revels in his failures.
After he lunges in front of a car to save a sick and disoriented woman, Lance awakens in a quarantined hospital. A devastating plague is spreading worldwide, driving those infected with it insane. Their bodies begin to mutate into horrors that have haunted mankind’s nightmares for centuries.

The world descends into chaos as the infected flee to the shadows, emerging at night to devour the remnants of civilization.
With the help of an unlikely ally, Lance must navigate through the collapsing city of Pittsburgh, striving to escape the madness of the apocalypse that unfolds around them.

This was the first book Ive read from Jason Brant and it wont be my last. I had downloaded this for free quite awhile ago but only just got round to reading it. What a fantastic fast paced read, I was hooked and completely sucked into this fast paced storyline from the very first page...why on earth...hadn't I read this earlier...doh!
If you love your zombie dystonian horror and gore you so need to read this next as its quite different to your normal zombie-esk reads. These monsters are a horrific combination of zombies and vampires similar to those of the Blade trilogy with larger bodies and more grotesque features making these creatures almost impossible to fight and so much more terrifying.

What's great about this book is that most of us can relate to or know someone like Lance who is in a really bad place, with a nagging wife, not enough money and is feeling quite down.  Jason has made us as the reader really feel for this guy as he's so realistic and completely believable. I was almost shouting at the screen when I discovered more about his scheming wife...no more spoilers here...grrr.

Its been brilliantly written and I was completely sucked into this storyline and I absolutely loved watching Lance develop naturally throughout the book from this downtrodden guy to a more confident ass-kicking hero which is so convincing. Part of the reason for this new found confidence was Cassie who saved his butt from not just the night and day-walkers but the Militia (its not just monsters to be scared of out there).
She is a likable, cocky young woman who is confident and strong not scared to  kick ass when needed. Girl power at its best...yesss! However her constant use of the word "dumbass" aimed at Lance was actually getting on my nerves as funny, quirky and likable as she is; even though it ends up as a term of endearment.
We watch Lances confidence grow as the two of them fight together to get to the national safety point and of course this isn't going to go easy or is it even going to be safe?

I found myself speeding through this book unable to put it down; another 6am finish on this lol!
Go grab this you've no excuse as its FREE as I type here for kindles.

Loved it and I cant wait to read book 2.

Zombie Fallout 8: An Old Beginning by Mark Tufo Book Review

Blurb
Mike and his family escaped a vast zombie horde to find themselves imprisoned by a clandestine group that seeks global domination by the most nefarious means possible. Help is coming, in the form of a 500 year old Pop-Tart loving vampire named Tommy. Will he be enough to get the Talbots to freedom or will he succumb to monsters new and old? On top of all this Mike discovers that he is in the crosshairs of an ancient enemy and it is only a matter of time until the final showdown.

OK same as before zombieholics; if you've read any of the Zombie Fallout or Indian Hill series and loved it...STOP and go click Buy Now! You don't need me to tell you its an aaaamazing read!

Ohh my Goodness I thought the other 7 books were brilliant but I reeeeally loved this one; its brought the whole series together and has introduced some amazing new story-lines and possibly another war...eeep!

If you've read book 7 you will know Mikes been imprisoned with his family and Thomas is on the way to rescue him. Deneaux is back with a vengeance and is up to her usual deceitful evil tricks...she has to be the most hateful person EVER...when is someone gonna throw her to the zombies...no really when...argh?
Mark is one of the few authors who can introduce Knights of the Templar, more vampires and a zombie gorilla and make it absolutely believable; just run of the mill everyday thing.
I cannot stress how much I enjoy Mark's books, his writing is gripping, compelling, vivid and exciting. The dialogue is always fresh and the Talbotisms are so hilarious Im still laughing outloud.
We finally discover the depth that Tommy knows about Mike and the Talbot's and he drops a massive bombshell for the coming of Book 9...oh my I cant wait Im so excited... for....book 9.....!

Buy yours from Amazon UK and US

Anyone new to Mark's books I highly recommend you start at book 1 where its flow and pace will keep you glued. Your Tufo addiction will become pretty bad and you may need ZF rehab; but you will appreciate Book 8 so much more when you understand how they all got where they are now.

Lycan Fallout By Mark Tufo Book Review

This goes without saying if you are fans of Mark Tufo and Zombie Fallout and the adventures of the ever sarcastic Mike Talbot; you don't need to read this just go and buy it...now!

Blurb
The world of man was brought to its knees with the zombie apocalypse. A hundred and fifty years have passed since man has clawed and climbed his way from the brink of extinction. Civilization has rebooted, man has begun to rebuild, to create communities and society.

It is on this fragile new shaky ground that a threat worse than the scourge of the dead has sprung. One man finds himself once again thrust into the forefront of a war he wants nothing to do with and seemingly cannot win. Follow along as Michael Talbot attempts to thwart the rise of the werewolf.

Oh my goodness another sleepless night I'm so knackered but wow what a ride. Ive been a fan of Mark Tufo since I discovered Zombie Fallout and Ive read all 6 books so far; since then Ive been hooked. So I couldn't wait to to try Lycan Fallout. I wasn't sure if Mark could pull off werewolves taking over the world as good as his Zombie Fallout series BUT Ohhh...my goodness...yes he can; he has done it again with an incredible start to this new series...I'm..so sorry to even doubt you Mark....

ZF is amazing ride of Talbot jokes and sarcasm; great lines and character mentions reaching back into Zombie Fallout history. This is book 1 of a brand new series and is a stand alone book in itself; but I do feel if you read Zombie Fallout series up to date first; you will understand and appreciate this book so much more.
Set 150 yrs after Zombie Fallout we watch as Mike's devastation of outliving his family is almost too much to bear. But good old Tommy has watched over him and finally brings him something to break his depression...Oggie. Yes its another Henry and its what he needs to get back back ontrack.....Yay to Oggie!

I love how Mark has skillfully intertwined Zombie Fallout characters and its history as Azile returns; Ive missed her since ZF 6 so its fab shes back with Tommy as they convince Mike they need him to help them save the world...from another horrific threat....AGAIN!

The Lycans are bigger and fiercer than werewolves, deadly more brutal and cruel than zombies, but don't worry the zombies are not all gone.....
Whats left of the human population are scattered across the lands gradually trying to rebuild their lives with new towns...eeking out a new existence with whatever they can. So with a witch and 2 vampires....well 1 vampire (Tommy) and half a vamp (Mike); plus some brilliant new characters which I'm sure we will all grow to love as much...join forces to fight and survive if they can against this new horror.
Mike Talbot with his incredible rugged charm and sarcasm just cannot keep his mouth shut to stay out of trouble and I love it. Who would find the only pub in the future and get into a fight...well they started on the Oggie didnt they...no-one picks on Mikes dog EVER! Its a good job Tommy keeps an eye on him.

Mcdonalds even lives on in the future but not as you know it lol...and we also learn what starts Mike into writing these journals.
I have to say Mike Talbot is one of my alltime favorite characters from any book or film Ive ever read...yes Ive said it...its a big claim but its so very true.
Mark creates believable characters, that are engaging and make us care about them like they were our best friends. Its a truly compelling, fast paced plot which made me laugh outloud and then cry real tears; that doesn't happen often...sheesh!
When you get to know the characters they are real to us and it brings out every emotion; so now I'm on tender-hooks for Lycan Fallout 2...hurry...!!!
